Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Wednesday, February 29, 2012 - Gary Lawrence Curtis passed away Feb. 20, 2012 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 70. He was born on March 1, 1941, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Frank and Victoria (Matranga) Curtis. Gary loved woodworking and owned is own business, Gary Curtis Custom Wood Finishing, in Lake Havasu City, for 18 years. He moved to Lake Havasu City 23 years ago from Arcadia, Calif. He is a proud veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. In his retirement, he enjoyed building and racing high-speed remote control boats, working on his classic cars and spending time with his grandson. Gary is survived by his loving daughter, Geri Tanzer and her husband, Matt, and their son, Thomas, of Goodyear; his ex-wife, Laura Curtis, of Lake Havasu City; and nephew, Don Curtis, of Meridian, Idaho. In the words of Thomas, “He was the best Papa. He always made time to play with me.” Gary will be missed but never forgotten.
