Richard (Sandy) Catania 80, passed away in Lake Havasu City, Feb. 27, 2012 at 9:05 p.m. He was born Aug. 28, 1931, in Boston, Mass., to Nicholas and Lillian (Orlando) Catania.
Sandy proudly served in the U.S. Army and retired from the City of Boston Police Department. He and his wife, June, have resided in Lake Havasu for the past 37 years. Sandy was an active, beloved member of the Living Word Family Church where he is known as “Uncle Sandy.”
Sandy is survived by his childhood sweetheart being married in 1948, June M. (Frenette) Catania, of Lake Havasu City; son, Kenneth Catania, of Boston, Mass.; brother, Nicholous Catania, of Boston; sisters, Patricia Catania and her husband, Ed, and Maureen Collins, of Lake Havasu City; granddaughter, Victoria Wedge and her husband, Joseph; great-grandchildren, Trent and Jordan; nieces and nephews, Annette and Carey Frame and Traci and Brian McLaughlin; grand-nieces and grand-nephew’s, Destiny, Dolly and Jim Goldman and Nicholous Catania. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Ciampa, who was married to Robert Ciampa, and grandson, Richard (Ricky) Catania.
A Celebration of his life will be at Living Work Family Church 1890 W. Acoma Blvd. Sunday at 5 p.m.
