BENNETT, Joyce

The Times (Valparaiso IN) Wednesday, February 29, 2012 Joyce Ywanow Bennett, Truckee, California, November 12, 1929-January 27, 2012, formerly of Valparaiso, IN. Loving mother and wife, passed away in her home in Truckee, CA. She was born in Gary, IN and grew up in Valparaiso. She was homecoming queen at Valparaiso High School and graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1947. Her family then moved to Wickenburg, Arizona. Joyce attended Arizona State University where she met and married her husband, Don. They moved to Ventura, CA where she was a social worker for 20 years. In 1991 she retired with Don to Truckee. She loved working in her garden and raising daisy flowers. Joyce was a beloved member of the Church of The Mountains, The Sierra Tinker Belles Garden Club and the EXE Chapter of PEO. She participated in many other local activities. She is survived by her husband, Don, her son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Tatjana. She will be greatly missed.
