FLAKE, Arvilla (Jackie)

The Prescott Courier, Prescott, Arizona December 1974 Arvilla Flake Last Rites Held Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 16 in Flagstaff for Arvilla (Jackie) Flake, daughter of a pioneer Arizona family. A lifetime resident of Arizona, she was born at Alpine Oct. 4, 1902, her parents being Fredrick and Martha Ann Burk Hamblin. A homemaker and nurse, she was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. She married Lorenzo Burgess and the couple had five children. Later, she married LaVon H. Flake. For the past few months Mr. and Mrs. Flake have made their retirement home at Cottonwood. Mrs. Flake died Thursday, Nov. 14 at Marcus J. Lawrence Memorial Hospital Cottonwood. Survivors include; her husband, LaVon H. Flake, Cottonwood; daughters, Shirley Pierce of Flagstaff and Merla Earnshaw of Cottonwood; sons, Marlan Burgess of Ash Fork, Evan Burgess of Prescott (another son, Thomas Burgess, preceded her in death); 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Cleveland of Eagar.
