Giuseppe "Joe" DiCarlantonio, age 82, a 7-year resident of Ft. Mohave, Ariz., passed away in his home on Tuesday, January 17, 2012.
He was born in Pietracamela, Italy on December 7, 1929. He immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1950.
As a young man he worked as a bricklayer, and while on a construction job in western New York State, he met his future wife, Doris J. Pitts. They were married in 1957, and resided in Olean, N.Y., for 20 years. During that time he became a licensed contractor and specialized in building custom homes.
In 1977, he moved to Fountain Hills, Ariz., where he continued in the construction field. Even after retiring at age 62, he never stopped "working."
Giuseppe enjoyed all kinds of projects and inventing things. He had knowledge of all the trades and continued doing small jobs and projects around his home. He loved the river, the mountains and being outside in the warm Arizona climate. In 2005, he moved to Ft. Mohave, Ariz., to be closer to family.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Jerry) Duke of Ft. Mohave, Ariz.; son, Joseph M. (Christine) DiCarlantonio of Fredonia, N.Y.; and four grandsons, Aaron, Justin and Ryan Saint-Amour and Joseph L. DiCarlantonio.
A family service was previously held at Desert Lawn Funeral Home in Mohave Valley, Ariz.
