CARRILLO, Raul (Roy) Noriega

West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona Friday, February 24, 2012 Raul "Roy" Noriega Carrillo, 88, of Buckeye died Feb. 20, 2012, in Avondale. Mr. Carrillo was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Morenci to Hilario and Aurelia Noriega. When he was young, his family worked on local farms in Litchfield Park. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served three and a half years aboard the USS New Orleans and the USS Willard Keith. After the war, he returned to Avondale to work at Casey Abbot Farms before marrying Maria Garza and moving to Buckeye, where he worked for the Roosevelt Irrigation District until he retired. He is survived by one sister, Julia Aguirre; one son, Lupe Garza; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Henry's Catholic Church, 128 S. Third St. in Buckeye. Memorials can be made to the St. Henry's Catholic Church Building Fund. Funeral arrangements were made by Ganley's Buckeye Funeral Home.
