Cody
August 14, 1936 - February 29, 2012
Carmen " Cody" Codispoti died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his home in Heber, Navajo County, Arizona following a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family. He was 75 years old.
Cody was born on August 14, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph Carmen and Mary Fortunata (Midilli) Codispoti, just 3 months following the passing of his father. His 9th birthday party was canceled, because that was the day that Japan surrendered from World War II and people everywhere were dancing in the streets. Cody literally thought that everyone was dancing for him celebrating his birthday! Ten days later, his family moved to Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Venice High School in the summer of 1955.
Cody and his first wife, Janice, had 3 daughters: Kim, Kellie and Linda. Each of them bore him grandchildren: Sandra, Linda, Noreen and James. Sandra and Noreen gave him 2 great-granddaughters: Alyssa and Maria.
Cody met his life-long love, Jeri Lane in 1979. They stayed together for 31 years and moved to Overgaard, Arizona in 1986. He was a plumber most of his life but also became and ordained Christian minister in 1989.
Cody loved to travel. He also loved ghost town hunting, guns, World War II history, motorcycles and people. He was the oldest living member of the Ponderosa Lions Club and had been a member of the American Legion Post #86 since 1986.
Cody was a very outgoing and helpful individual to everyone he met. He will be sorely missed by everyone whomever had the privilege to know and love him.
A memorial service will begin 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Overgaard American Legion Post #86 (on Lumber Valley Road and Highway 260) and will be officiated by Fr. Bill Day. The family warmly welcomes all to attend this special service and celebration of Cody's life.
