West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona December 24, 2010 Robert P. Payne Sr., 87, of Goodyear died at his home Dec. 19, 2010. He was born Aug. 2, 1923, in Washington, D.C. He moved to Arizona in 1988. He retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service to his country. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Payne is survived by his wife, Grace; one daughter, Mary Schmidt; six sons, Robert P. Jr., Tony D., Michael, Steve, John and Patrick; two sisters, Mildred Agpaoa and Barbara Moore; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at noon Dec. 27, which will be followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at Thompson's Valley West Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road in Goodyear.
