age: 82 yrs 7 mos 5 days Estiline "Robbie" Cain, 82, died Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Ironwood Assisted Living in Yuma, AZ. Born July 14, 1929, in Muleshoe, Texas, her family moved to Glendale, Arizona during the dust bowl era. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1948, she choose to serve her country by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in January 1951. She was a radar operator during her two years of service. She concentrated on raising a family after her separation from the Air Force. A thoughtful and loving mother of three children, she re-entered the work force in 1965 as a federal civil servant file clerk with the Veteran Administration Hospitals. Her strong work ethic and intelligence enabled her take advantage of career opportunities. Her efforts were recognized by supervisors and managers and she was able to work her way up the career ladder with the VA in San Antonio, TX; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Tacoma, Washington; Grand Junction, Colorado; and Tucson, Arizona. She retired from federal civilian service with nearly 35 years of service in Jan 2000 as a Human Resource manager. Robbie enjoyed golf, travel and daily walks in the desert. She settled in Yuma after her retirement to enjoy the foothills area. Robbie is survived by longtime friend and companion Harold Hartman; daughter Connie Cain; sons Michael Cain and Steven Cain; granddaughters Elissa Torgeson, Josie Meador, Veronica Cain, Kathleen Grace Cain, and Elizabeth Cain; grandsons James Cain, Aaron Cain, Zachary Cain, Caleb Cain and Levi Cain; great-grandchildren Sasha, Alex and Cyrus Torgenson. Robbie was preceded in death by her father, Zachariah Robertson; her mother, Gracie Murphy (Hester) Robertson; her ex-husband and father of her three children, Vern Leon Cain. A celebration of life will be 10am, Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Gloria de Cristo Lutheran Church, 11273 E. 40th St, Yuma, AZ. Published in The Yuma Sun on February 29, 2012
