PECK, Robert George (Bob)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, March 06, 2012 Robert George Peck, 68, of Prescott, Ariz., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, in Prescott. He was born June 11, 1943, in Phoenix, Ariz., to George Julius and Addie Lee Peck. Bob attended and graduated West High School in Phoenix, Ariz. Following high school he attended Phoenix College and later began studies at Arizona State University. In 1965, Bob joined Brethren Voluntary Service, which led him to Hagerstown, Md. During his time in Maryland, he served at Brooklane Hospital, then continued his studies at the University of Maryland. Also while in Maryland, he met his beloved wife and soulmate, Evelyn Landis Stover. He and Evelyn were married in 1967 at her home church in Blooming Glen, Pa. Following his marriage to Evelyn, he and his new wife moved to Arizona, where Bob completed his studies at Arizona State University, earning a master's degree in social services. After graduation from Arizona State University, Bob went to work for The State of Arizona Department of Economic Security. He became one of the first employees to develop the Adult Protective Services Division of the Department of Economic Security in Arizona. Bob served the State of Arizona with Adult Protective Services for 27 years and retired as program manager for Maricopa County in 2002. During his career, Bob received many awards for service and was specially recognized for his service by the governor of Arizona. After retirement, he and his wife Evelyn moved to a country home in Prescott. Bob is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Peck; sons Robert Scott and Allen Christian Peck; sister Mary Ann Peck Lichte; and grandson Jack Robert Peck. There will be a visitation from 3 to 4 p.m. with services starting at 4 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave. Prescott. There will also be a visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with services starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Papago Buttes Church of The Brethren, 2450 North 64th Street, Scottsdale, Ariz., with burial to follow at the West Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W.
