Morris “DeLane” Gillum, age 72, of Globe, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at his home. He was born in Rose, Okla. on Sept. 15, 1939, the son of Iva (Gwartney) and J. D. Gillum.
Morris’s family moved to Globe in 1952. After proudly serving in the United States Army, he began working for Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company and retired with them 30 years later as Phelps Dodge.
He was a good brother, a caring husband, an amazing dad and a fun grandpa. He was a man of simple pleasures and quiet reserve. He gauged the success of his life on one ideal and that was to be a good father. “You exceeded your dream dad! We love you.”
He will be missed by his wife, Shirley; son, Karl Gillum (Carrie) and their sons Kyle and Riley; his daughter, Kristine Gillum; his daughter, Katherine Sisk (Gary) and their daughters Whitney and Bailey; and three sisters, Carolyn Gillum, Vera Gillum and Alice Culpepper.
A private family service will be held at a later date. The Gillum family would greatly appreciate memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
