Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Monday, March 12, 2012 Virginia Lee Kelly, age 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away in her sleep, on Thursday, March 8, 2012. Virginia was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, November 13, 1925 to Louis and Susan Hamner. She was predeceased by her brother Harold Hamner. She is survived by her husband Ralph, whom she married on August 6, 1950, brother Leon Hamner , children, Steven, Michael, Sue and Kitty, step-daughter Patricia, grandchildren Aliah, Ian, and Amanda, and great-grandchildren Kadence and Holly. She grew up in southern California and spent 25 years as an Air Force wife, before retiring and settling in Flagstaff, Arizona, where she spent the remainder of her life. After moving to Flagstaff in 1984, Virginia became active in local endeavors like the Flagstaff Symphony Guild, and Republican Women. She was a world traveler, but also loved playing bridge with her many wonderful friends, going to the opera, listening to jazz and big band music, and playing the piano. She lived a very active, interesting, full, life, and will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Services will be held in the chapel at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Rt. 66, on Thursday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to services. The Kelly family suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Northland Hospice, and the Olivia White Hospice House, in memory of Virginia l. Kelly (P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, AZ 86002).
