Russell D. Douglas, age 91, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in
Dewey, July 28, 2003. He was born April 14, 1912, in Chickasay, Okla.,
to Robert and Mary (Foster) Douglas. He moved to Arizona in 1914 and was
a long-time resident of Arizona. Russell's family says he was an "Old
Cowboy" and that he was a cowboy his whole life. Russell rode bulls in
the Prescott Rodeo, the World's Oldest Rodeo, for 20 years. He also
worked as a heavy equipment operator for the State and County traveling
the state of Arizona and retired in 1982. Russell's loving wife, Harriet
Elizabeth "Sis", who preceded him in death, after they had celebrated 63
years of marriage. Russell is survived by his son, M.E. "Doug" Douglas
and daughter in law Juanita of Tucson; daughter, Ann Mazey and son in
law, Gary of Prescott Valley; brother, Kenny Douglas of Dewey; sister,
Hazel Jamison; grandchildren, Richard, Sharon, Joyce (Greg), Laurie,
Dianna, Danette, Danielle, David, Mitch, Tracy, Lesha, Franci, Rusty,
Kristy, Dawn and his great-grand-children. Russell was preceded in death
by his wife, Harriet; daughter, Fay Porter and son in law, Billy;
brothers, Burt, Caither, and Barrett; sisters, Dee, Ethel, Josephine,
Sadie and Louise; and grandson, Danny. All are invited to join the
family.
The visitation will be held Thursday, July 31, from 10am to 11am., with
the service held at 11am, at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott
Valley.
Graveside services will be held in Phoenix at Phoenix Memorial Park
following the funeral service.
A luncheon will be held at 4pm, at 10800 Kachina Place, Douglas property
in Dewey. Everyone is invited.
