THOMASON, Patricia

Patricia Welnick Thomason, 73, died peacefully on December 17, 2005. A lifelong resident of Phoenix, Pat graduated from Phoenix Union High School and Arizona State University before completing her master's degree in psychology at Michigan State University. Pat always enjoyed helping people, gardening, and spending time with her family and pets. Her career included both private and high school counseling, teaching psychology at Phoenix College, and working for the State, both as a counselor for the Department of Corrections and for the Department of Juvenile Corrections. She is survived by her brother, Bill Welnick (Dorothy), three children, Laura Cotter (Chuck), Lynne Smith, and Steven Smith (Marty), and four grandchildren, David, Daniel, Sarah, and Jennifer. A memorial service was held at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th St. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations for neurological research at Xeninstitute.org. Arrangements by Hansen Mortuary.
