Harold "Mickey" Maxfield, 78, died Friday, March 2, 2012, of a fast-moving brain tumor.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Bonner; sons, Skip of Chico, Calif., Roger of Yreka, Calif., and Mike of Lake Havasu City; and his sister, Dorothy Henderson of Sacramento, Calif. He leaves behind six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. There are many others he leaves behind he also considered as family and they him.
Mickey was born near Chico on Nov. 4, 1933; served in the Army in the Korean War; worked for the Chico Enterprise-Record newspaper; moved to Las Vegas in the early 80s, then to Laughlin, Chloride and Golden Valley while he worked in the Keno department of several casinos, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.
Mickey especially enjoyed the out-of-doors, photography, and spent much of his free time hiking locally. With Bonner, he expanded his traveling to many states and pursued camping and wilderness exploring. He was a true naturist. Although not one who socialized much in groups nor talked much, many will miss his humor, the twinkle in his eye, and especially his willingness to pitch in and help in any way he could.
The family asks that any donations be made to KRMC Hospice, 1790 Sycamore Ave., Suite 5, Kingman, AZ 86409.
