Delores “Dee” Jean Fears our Beloved Mother went to be with the Lord Feb. 22. 2012. Born Delores Jean Pollard, Aug. 31, 1934, in Burnt Prairie, Ill., she was the youngest of 12 children.
After graduating high school with honorary awards, she went to work for a newspaper where she met William L. R. Fears. Shortly thereafter, they were married on her parents’ farm in Burnt Prairie. They later opened up a restaurant which was famous for its down home country cooking, featuring homemade bread and daily fresh baked pies.
After their first child was born they packed up and moved to California where they both got jobs in the aerospace field. After giant layoffs in the space industry, they moved to Parker, Ariz., where they opened up D&B Enterprises (PVC pipe business). Mom went to work for Dayton Superior as the steel plant’s Material Control Manager until her retirement.
She and Bill had two children: a son Rusty L. (Geri) Fears; daughter, Candy J. Pyle; along with step-children, Terry (Betty) Fears; and Kimi Fritz; eight grandchildren, Robert (Marissa) Fears; Renee (Rames) Johnny Boyce; Amy Fears; Margo (John) Corsaut; Christopher (Ingrid) Fears; Michael (Anita) Fears; Michelle (Rich) Rosas; 12 great-grandchildren, Brooks and Brady Boyce; Ryan and Jason Corsaut; Natashka, Kassandra, Ingrid and Karissa Fears; Madison, Thomas and Cody Rosas; and Jaxon Boyce.
Dee lived 37 years in Bluewater Lagoon on the Colorado River in Parker, Arizona. Dee loved the river and all her wonderful friends there and her church family at First Baptist Church in Parker.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill and survived by all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24, 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church located at 1312 16th Street.
