Marilyn Goar passed away peacefully at her home in 29 Palms, Calif., after a short battle with cancer. She was born to Aubrey and Marjorie McMahon in Stoddard, NH.
She graduated from Keene State Teachers College in 1956 and was a school teacher until her retirement from Blake Primary School where she taught kindergarten for many years.
After her retirement, she was active with Christ’s Church on the River; volunteered with Hospice of Havasu and Parker Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Leon Goar. She is survived by three wonderful brothers Lee, Keith and Terry McMahon. She is also survived by her loving daughter Leslie (Karnig) Braun, of 29 Palms; stepchildren Leon Goar, Lyle Goar, Lois Foreman and Lynn Goar, as well as 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly.
She always said that grandchildren are the best things that you get in your life.
Marilyn loved traveling, nature, cooking and hosting dinner parties, reading, solving crossword puzzles and teaching.
She will be missed and always remembered by her family and many friends. To put it simply, she was a class act.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 3, at 11 a.m., at Parker Cemetery. There will be a reception immediately following at Bluewater Lagoon Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to either Hospice of Havasu or Parker Historical Society.
