KIRCHER, Fred Cecil


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, March 27, 2012 Fred Cecil Kircher, 90, died at his home in Prescott, Ariz., on March 17, 2012. Fred was born in San Fernando Valley, Calif., to Cecil and Eunice Kircher on Feb. 11, 1922. He married Margaret Kicinski on Jan. 26, 1952. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret "Peg" Kircher; two sons, Gordon (Wendy) Kircher of Galesburg, Ill., and Doug (Michelle) Kircher of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three granddaughters, Aspen, Ashlee and Emilee. Fred was enlisted as a First Lieutenant in WWII in the U.S. Air Corps as a pilot stationed in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. He then worked as a mechanical engineer with Douglas Aircraft in California. Later, he went to work in the aerospace industry at Martin Marietta in New Orleans, working on the external tank of the space shuttle. In 2001, Fred and Margaret moved to Prescott, Ariz. Fred was a lifelong student and mentor. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and was a wonderful father and grandfather. Private services took place per Fred's request.
