Linda Rohrbach of Kingman passed away and moved on to join her beloved husband Walt on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a long-time member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary here in Kingman.
Linda was born Dec. 26, 1932, to Emmett York, later a Choctaw chief, on a reservation in Mississippi. She attended St. Anthony School of Nursing in Oklahoma and then moved to California, and worked as a nurse for a short time before being employed in the electronics industry. Linda was a long-time resident of Pomona, Calif., and held several positions of responsibility at General Dynamics in Pomona, before retiring and moving to Kingman in 1993.
Besides her interest in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Linda also shared her beautiful voice in church choirs for several years in different congregations. Linda was an accomplished seamstress, and her quilts, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, and clothing were enjoyed by her many family members over the years.
She is survived by five children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several siblings. She will be greatly missed by all.
There will be no local service. However, in Choctaw tradition, the Mississippi band of the Choctaw Nation will hold a memorial in Linda's honor on April 14, 2012, in Choctaw, Miss.
