HOUCK, Earl Ray


Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from March 29 to April 5, 2012 - Earl Ray "PaPa" Houck, age 80, a 20-year resident of Fort Mohave, Ariz., passed away March 24, 2012, in a dune buggy accident. He was born September 30, 1931, in Crescent, Okla. and served in the US Navy for four years, during which time he received several medals: Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal (2 stars). Earl, a retired self employed trench service owner, loved spending his time with his Beer 30 buddys and riding in the desert. He is preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Alice Houck, and brother, Victor Houck. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Janet Houck of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; two sons, David (Linda) Vallejo of Fontana, Calif., and Joe Vallejo of Ft. Mohave, Ariz.; two daughters, Anna (Cindy) Vallejo of Ontario, Calif., and Veronica (Ernie) Garza of Ft. Mohave, Ariz.; two sisters, Corrine Sandis of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Darlene MacPherson of Williamsberg, Va.; three brothers, Merle and Evandale of Crescent, Okla., and Dan of Edmond, Okla.; six grandchildren, David A. Vallejo of Grand Prairie, Texas, Joseph Vallejo of Texas, Jessica, Alicia (Adrian), Mario, and Nick, all of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; six great-grandchildren; and his dog (Pinkie), who went everywhere with "PaPa". Our "Papa" was the rock of our family, he was concerned about us and his grandkids - if we ever needed "PaPa", he was there! He never let us down and will be truly missed. Earl's Viewing will be at 12:00 p.m. to 1:15p.m. on Saturday, March, 31, 2012, at Desert Lawn Funeral Home, 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, Ariz. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m.
