LUCERO, Genevieve Pearl

(Maiden Name: Taylor)

Uintah Basin Standard (Roosevelt UT) Monday, April 2, 2012 Our beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, Genevieve Pearl Taylor Lucero, age 76, of Neola, passed away March 21, 2012, surrounded by her loving family after a brave, three year battle with cancer. She was born Sept 13, 1935, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Susan Morgan Taylor and Claude Taylor. She married Bernard Lucero, Sr, on Oct 25, 1957, in Ft Duchesne. Genevieve worked as a secretary and as a police officer for both the Salt River Pima Tribe in Arizona and the Ute Tribe in Utah. She enjoyed quilting, canning, traveling with her husband, being in the outdoors, hunting for arrowheads, and cooking--she made the best homemade bread. Visiting with friends and spending time with her grandkids were two of her favorite things to do and she had a way of making you feel like one of the family when you came to her home. She had many cats and dogs that she adored, her favorites being "Bebe", "Little Boy" and "Puff." She made a point to visit her family in Arizona, usually staying a month at a time. She will be remembered for her "famous" blue purse and her collection of shoes and clothes. Genevieve is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bernard of Neola; children, Ricky (Shirley) Lucero, Neola; Bernette Lucero (Mike Johnson), Roosevelt; Bernard (Krista) Lucero Jr, Cedarview; Denise Lucero (Russell Case), Roosevelt; Alfonso Lucero (Janice Richens), Neola; Darwin Lucero, Vernal; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Diane) Taylor, Salt Lake City; Myra (Wayne) Baum, Salt River, Ariz; sister-in-law, Jackie Taylor, Salt River, Ariz; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Ershel Taylor. Graveside services held March 24 at the Neola Cemetery. In honor of Genevieve, the family suggests a donation be made to the American Cancer Society. www.hullingermortuary.com
