BLACKETER, Thomas Rex


Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona Thomas Rex Blacketer (June 24, 1952 ~ March 30, 2012) Thomas Rex Blacketer was born on June 24th, 1952 in Crawsfordville, Indiana. He was raised in Lafayette, IN by his parents Charles and Virginia along with his older brother Richard. He went on to play baseball at Ball State University where he got a Bachelor's of Education in History. He was proud to be named College All American for baseball in 1972 and went on to play in the minors. His life led him to Arizona where he eventually settled in Flagstaff in 1986. He worked at Northern Arizona University for 13 years and went onto to be a general contractor with his longtime company Peaks View Contracting. He loved skiing, fishing, swimming and spending times with family and close friends. He is survived by his children: Brian (wife Kristen), Alleana (husband, Denton and granddaughter, Mckenna) and Alesha, their mother, Monica, brother Richard, and his recent fiancé Traci Mead and her two children Molli and Matthew. He passed away March 30th, 2012. A visitation will be held at Norvel Owens Funeral Home April 3rd 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church April 4th at 10:30 am with a reception to follow at Charly's/Weatherford Hotel. He will be laid to rest in Battleground, IN. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and his beautiful spirit.
