CURTIS, Preston


Preston Curtis, 84, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on May 31, 2007 following a brief illness. Family and friends had gathered by his side. A Memorial service will be at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary located at 7924 North 59 Ave., Glendale, Az. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in honor of Preston Curtis to the Gisela Valley Volunteer Fire Department, HC-1 Box 1077, Payson, Az 85541. In 1954, Preston and Bette moved to the Valley of the Sun. Upon retiring from the Salt River Project Agua Steam Plant, Preston enjoyed many outdoor activities including spending time at the cabin he built in Gisela, hunting, camping, fishing, exploring the country in his Army Jeep, riding his quad and dirt bike. Preston was born on December 23, 1922 in Gabriel, Arkansas to Gabriel and Mary Curtis. Preston is survived by his wife Bette, daughter Karen Kotowski of Glendale, Arizona, son Dale Curtis of Mesa, Arizona, two grandchildren, Jimmy and Jennifer Johnston of Glendale, Arizona and three surviving sisters, Dollie Terry of Beebe, Arkansas, Beatrice Bell of Hector, Arkansas and Lila Crawford of Ventura, California Published in The Arizona Republic on 6/3/2007.
