James E. (Jim) Lind, age 85, died Jan. 14, 2004, at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center. He was born on May 28, 1918, the son of Peter and Bertha Lind.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, the former Dorothy Weick of Gibbstown, N.J., her daughter, Diane Buck of Centreville, Va.; and her son, Dale of Glendale.
After attending local schools, Jim was employed as a member of a survey crew of the Pennsylvania Highway Department, on bridges, roads and airports.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940, and retired from the U.S. Airorce in 1966 as a Lt. Col., after serving at organizational levels from squadron to headquarters USAF. His last assignment overseas was as Chief of Staff on the U.S. Military Assistance Advisory Group, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Returning to the U.S., he was assigned to the Headquarters of the 4510th
Combat Support Group at Luke AFB for duty as Vice Commander.
Beginning in 1968, he worked for the State of Arizona. He traveled through-out the state of Arizona, for the Division of Emergency Services for 13 years, and had a lot of friends in the Prescott area.
Jim and Dorothy traveled extensively, visiting over 30 countries on five continents.
Graveside services were held at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
