Harold Devere
Harold Devere Scarlett, 70, of Chandler went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 6, 2007, at Friendship Village-Hospice of the Valley in Tempe.
He was born on Aug. 25, 1936, in Valley Falls, Kan., to Harold and Grace Scarlett, the eighth child of 13 children.
He relocated and made Arizona his home when he was 41. A member of the Del Rio First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Harold was a high priest and served in many jobs. His favorite was being an usher. He was an appliance repairman by trade and retired from Deseret Industries in Mesa. Harold was a good friend and a teacher to all who knew him and especially to anyone who was in need of help. In his younger days he love to square dance and play paint ball, and he was the Phoenix Suns' most avid fan.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 26 years, Karen; daughters, Renay (Tony) Edwards, Lisa (Dirk) Ming, Pam Scarlett and Lorene De Busch; sons, Doug (Judy), Bruce (Annette), Steven (Sharon), Eric (Becky) and James Scarlett; 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his sisters, Helen (Lloyd)Gibson, Leota Bolz, Anita (Lloyd) Grahem, Marilyn Kesinger, Neola (Carl) Risinger and Arlen Gier; brothers, Marlin (Mary), Harlin (Louise), Everett (Barbara), Gary (Kay), John (Sandy) and brother-in-law Larry (Kitty) Allen. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Etzel.
Funeral services were held June 11 at the Chandler West Stake Center, 1950 W. Galveston St., Chandler. Interment followed at the city of Mesa Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley-Friendship Village. Papa, you will be missed very much. Arrangements were by Bueler Mortuary.
