George Wayne Fabrin, 83 died April 1, 2012, with his wife by his side at this house in Camp Verde, AZ. A celebration of his life took place April 6 at Bueler Funeral Home, 143 W Arnold St, Camp Verde.
George was born April 16th, 1928 in Pasadena, CA to Clarence and Edith Fabrin. His father was the head time-keeper for the Southern Pacific Railroad. It was his father’s connection with the railroad that later shaped George’s adult life.
George attended high school in Berkeley, CA, received his masters in Architecture at Cal Berkeley and later received his second master’s in Business at Stanford. In between his higher education, he was drafted into the Korean War where he served his time at Fort Bliss, El Paseo, Texas.
George worked a short time at Mare Island Naval submarine base. Later, he was able to secure a position at Southern Pacific Railroad. George worked his way up in the architectural and operations department to chief architect for all Southern Pacific. He retired after 32 years of service.
In 1970 and through church activities, George met his future wife Ethel, they had Erik (1972), followed by Jann-Paul (1973) and Nissa (1976).
George had many interests in life including sailing, art, construction, wood-working and maintaining an 80 acre ranch in Scotts Valley, CA. He spent many years keeping his mountainside ranch working through tireless effort. There, he kept many registered quarter horses and Hereford cattle, in which he had immense pride.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ethel; sons Erik and Jann-Paul; daughter Nissa; four grandchildren; Ethan, Lucas, Aaliyah, and Maxim; brother John. George was laid to rest at the Santa Cruz Memorial Park in Santa Cruz, CA near his parents’ grave.
