Theresa Marie Burnes — “Terry” - was born in New York City April 23, 1930, to Leonard and Johanna Robinson. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family April 4, in Lake Havasu City.
Terry, formerly of Arroyo Grande, Calif., was schooled at Biola College, Bob Jones University and subsequently graduated from Cal State Long Beach and became a teacher. She later came to love the study of metaphysical spirituality, love and divine light.
She loved to read White Eagle, Emmett Fox, Anna Lee Skarin, Emmanuel Swedenborg, Lao Tzu and the like.
In 1954 she married the one and only man she ever loved and knew, Edward Earl Burnes. They remained married for the rest of their natural days until “Eddie” passed away January 23, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by her mother, Johanna, in 1933 when Terry was only two years old; her father, Leonard in 1986; and her other “mothers,” her grandmother, Lida Izella Robinson in 1971; and her mother-in-law, (Eddie’s mom) Edgar Viola Burnes in 2010.
She is survived by her older brother and only sibling, Lenny Robinson, of Leander, Texas; her son, Mark Edward Burnes and his wife Tamara, of Pismo Beach, Calif.; daughter, Lori Leann Spradlin, of Lake Havasu City; grandchildren, Brandon Edward Burnes, of Bakersfield, Calif., Kyle Edward Burnes and Marcus Tyler Spradlin, both of Lake Havasu City; great-grandchildren, Autumn Dawn Burnes, of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Donovan Edward Burnes, of Madera, Calif.
There will be a private memorial service at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Orange, Calif., where she will be interned in eternal peace with Eddie.
In lieu of flowers, Terry would love to see donations to New Hope Hospice of Lake Havasu City, to whom the family would like to express their deepest gratitude, along with all at Lakeview Memory Care Center in Lake Havasu City, the state of Arizona for the ALTEC program and the good people at Evercare whose combined efforts allowed Terry to live her final years in comfort and dignity.
