Lawrence "Larry" L. Murray, Jr., 88, passed away on April 3, 2012 in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. He was born on Jan. 28, 1924, in Portland, Maine, to Lawrence and Grace Irene (Masson) Murray Sr.
Larry was born in Portland, Maine, where he lived for 35 years. He then moved his family to Corona, Calif., and lived there for 20 years. He retired in Lake Havasu City, in 1979, where he spent 33 years enjoying life in Lake Havasu and creating wonderful memories for family and friends.
He loved to tell jokes and stories and was a wealth of knowledge and trivia. He was the family “go to” person when answers were needed. He was always there when you needed him and his wit and good humor will be truly missed. He was a loving father and husband. He was very proud to be a Marine, PFC Marine Aviation Separation Unit One and served his Country in World War II. He will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Ruth Murray and their three children, son, Larry Murray (Sharron); daughter, Cindy Murray; and son, John Murray, who all reside in Lake Havasu; five grandchildren, Jeani Loe (Dennis), of Roseville, Calif., Troy Gilbert, of Waynesville, N.C., Jacquie Early (Jason), of Tracy, Calif., Shauna Ballance (Tray), of Waynesville, N.C., and Michael Murray, of Tempe, Ariz.; 10 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Cody, Mitch, Gaige, Katy, Sarah, Jozy, Jesse, Ralyn and River.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Larry's name to Hospice of Havasu or The Marine Corp League c/o B.P.O.E. – Elks Lodge #2399 Lake Havasu City.
