SANDERS, Eugene W. (Gene)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, April 07, 2012 Eugene W. (Gene) Sanders, 87, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 1, 2012. Gene was born and raised in Valparaiso, Ind. After serving in the Army during WWII, he returned to complete his education at Valparaiso University. Gene retired after 32 years in the petroleum business in Prescott, Ariz., where he and Doris built their dream home. Gene spent several years volunteering as treasurer for Yavapai United Way and tutoring at Yavapai Community College. He and Doris also enjoyed many years traveling and seeing the country. Gene was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a kind and generous man who will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doris; daughter Janice (Brian) Johnson of Phoenix; son Darrell (Virginia) Sanders of Valparaiso, Ind.; and grandchildren, Olivia and Grant Sanders of Valparaiso. Services will be private at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley. Information provided by survivors.
