STANDIFORD, James Wayne


James Wayne Standiford, 89 born July 16, 1918, in Elm Grove, West Virginia, to Edwin Leland and Florence L. Standiford. Passed away in Phoenix, Arizona; Wednesday morning June 6, 2007. His wife, Johnnie Ann Standiford, stepson Bruce Kendig and grandson Jason Lake, preceded him in death. Survived by his son the Reverend James Wayne Standiford, II, who resides in San Diego, California with his wife Mary Lou and their two children and son-in-law (who is serving in the Armed Forces at this time) and their infant grandson. Also survived by stepson Robert Anderson Kendig who resides in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife Geri and Robert's two children. Along with stepdaughter Nancy Lake and her son who resides in Phoenix as well. James also leaves behind loving family living in the California, Ohio and West Virginia areas. He was preceded in death by his brother, Russell E. Standiford and his sister, Alice Isabelle Routzon. As is true with us all, we will be remembered by our accomplishments: As for James, he was a very loving and dedicated husband. During World War II he proudly served with the 104 Infantry Division in Germany; where he earned a purple heart. Furthermore, from the humble beginning of his work career in post-war Wheeling, West Virginia (his home town) to finally upon retirement, leaving a very prestigious real estate firm in Phoenix, Arizona. He will long be remembered for his perfectionist signature in all he applied himself to do. After retirement James and his Wife Johnnie moved to Prescott, Arizona. Where they enjoyed golf, games and socializing for more than twenty years. He had a good life, and now goes home to gain his eternal reward. James will missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial service was held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary in Phoenix. Published in The Arizona Republic on 6/15/2007.
