Marilyn Veronica (Niemczyk) Esteves, of Phoenix, formerly of Huntington, New York, in her 72nd year died on June 9, 2007 after a short illness. She joins her late husband, Thomas Edmund Esteves and her much loved infant son. She is survived by daughter Marilyn Jean, son Thomas Joseph, grandchildren Denise Marie and Jordan Thomas, son-in-law Wade and great grandson Logan Wade. Loving sister to Helen, Marge, Anne, Joan, Irene, Phyllis, Joanne, and Jerome. Also the late Mary, Frances, Joseph, James, John and David. Loving sister-in-law to Frank, Ed, Len, Vincent, George, Ellen, Virginia, Josephine, Julia, Lenore, Rose, James, Maryann, Howard, Danny, Jim and Harold. Also the late Antonio, Marie, Celestina, Kurt, Mary, Elizabeth, Ralph, Joe, Flash and Marie. Aunt to over 100 nieces and nephews and over 200 grand nieces and nephews. After growing up as a Long Island farm girl, Mrs. Esteves was employed for 15-years at the New York Telephone Co. and engaged in practices as a Realtor in New York and Phoenix for 37 years thereafter. Mrs. Esteves was also an original member of Village Seven, when Phoenix was first divided into Villages, her's being Encanto. Active in the Willo Neighborhood Association, Mrs. Esteves acted for many years as a consultant to Mayors, City Council members and Planning and Zoning Department officials in order to make Central Phoenix a better place to live. She ends her leadership tenure as Vice-president of the Willo Neighborhood Association. Mrs. Esteves was a helper to the mighty and the meek, as evidenced by the steady stream of visitors to her bedside and the stories they had to tell. They were from all walks of life. We learn much about a woman's life by being with her during her death. Mass was held Friday at St. Gregory's Church with Father Kevin.
