Tom's early years were in Chicago where he was one of 11 children born to John and Marie Amberg. He was a graduate of Northwestern University Law School, first practicing in the Chicago area and then in the Phoenix area beginning in 1969. Tom was a World War II veteran who served in the Navy.
He was the husband of the late Khrybel Travers Amberg with whom he had three children and lived first in Winnetka, Ill. and later in Scottsdale and Fountain Hills.
He shared the later years of his life with his wife, Marjorie Holm Amberg, who preceded him in death two years ago. Tom will be missed by his children, John W. He was the proud great-grandfather of six and the late Emily Janczewski. He will also be missed by his four stepchildren and their families, Ronald (Colleen) Holm of Minneapolis, Minn., Janet Wiig (Darrell Johnson) of Fountain Hills, Barbara (Peter) Esam of London, England, and Richard Holm (Judy Kirk) of Las Vegas, Nev. He is also survived by three of his siblings, William Amberg, Elizabeth Murtaugh, and Catherine Martin, and many nieces and nephews.
