BOVEE, Marshall Gaylord


Marshall Gaylord Bovee, 80, born in Dundee, Mich. died Aug. 2, 2008 at his home in Fountain Hills. He was a decorated veteran of WW II and the Korean War. He was a retired Phoenix Fire Captain (AKA "the Lord") and a general contractor. Gaylord was preceded in death by his daughters Lucy and Clare, his brothers Oliver Bovee and Bill Stewart and his sisters Janice Hassenzahl and Susan Mozingo. He was a loving husband to Carmen for 57 years, father to Barbara, Janice (Mike), Marshall, and Mike (Sue). Gaylord and Carmen also have 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Gaylord loved walking and could frequently be seen walking around the Fountain and other areas of Fountain Hills. An avid fisherman, he acquired his beloved "Fish Camp" in the Tonto Basin area of Roosevelt Lake, where he made many friends with whom he could trade fish stories. Gaylord and Carmen have long maintained a summer home in Munds Park, Ariz. where he also walked extensively and greeted his many friends along his way. There will be a memorial mass at the Catholic Church of the Ascension at 12615 Fountain Hills Blvd. in Fountain Hills, on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, with a reception immediately following. The family would especially like to thank Hospice of the Southwest and the excellent care given by his nurses Kim, Marilyn, and Sam.
