SMITH,
Opal C.
(Maiden Name: Pearce)
Opal C. Smith, age 100, passed away in Scottsdale on August 9, 2008.
Opal was born in Coryell County, near Lampasas, Texas, on June 8, 1908.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Smith.
During Opal's 74 years in Arizona she resided in Ajo, Payson, and finally Scottsdale. She was avid antique collector and loved to meet people. This led Opal to open an antique store in Payson. She truly loved Payson and the friendly folks who called Payson home.
Opal is survived by her daughter, Marlene McGrady (Ben), her son James W. Smith (Pat), grandchildren Karen Lowe (Tom), Steve McGrady (Dayna), Greg Smith (Melanie), Kevin Smith and nine great grandchildren. Opal is also survived by her sister, Ouida Glenn and a brother, L.D. Pearce.
A private graveside service will be held at Green Acres Cemetery. We would like to express our appreciation to the staffs at Scottsdale Village Square and Mimosa Springs for the loving care given to Opal.
