Josephine Mary Stambaugh, 88, died March 31, 2012, in Apache Junction. Jo, as she was called, was born June 19, 1923 in White Lake, S.D. to Frances Mary Blasen and Nicholas Blasen. She grew up in White Lake, Iowa and went to school there. She married Elmer Dwain Stambaugh in Mitchell, S.D. in 1945.
Jo had many friends in White Lake, Iowa, Texas, and all the places they lived. She was much loved by all of her friends and kept up with all of them, even childhood friends. Jo was very active in her church, in Catholic Daughters, and counseled battered women and did volunteer work in nursing homes. She was very devoted to her husband and family. Jo was a kind and accepting person, and the best mother anyone could have. She and her husband built a summer home in the White Mountains of Arizona where she enjoyed the flowers, wildlife and the peace of nature. She seemed to bring joy to all who knew her, because of her warm and caring nature.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer Dwain; three children: Diane, Dennis and Terry, and their spouses: Don Rauch, and Susan Stambaugh; grandchild Heather Ingram and great-grandchild Connor Ingram. Jo will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family will have a private memorial service at their mountain home.
