Norma Lee Blumenstock, 97, passed April 5, 2012 at the Granite View Adult Care Home, in Prescott, Ariz., where she had resided for the last 12 years. She was born Feb. 17, 1915, to George and Eva (Hiatt) Firkins in Moravia, Iowa, where she lived until she married Wilhelm "Bill" Blumenstock in 1935. She had taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Iowa. Bill and Norma Lee lived in Hibbing, Minn., where their first four children were born, before moving to Sonoma, Calif., during World War II, where Bill worked at Mare Island Ship Yard. They moved to Garberville, Calif., in 1945, where Bill worked as an electrical contractor, and they owned the Garberville Electric store. Two more children were born in Garberville. They moved to New Mexico in 1965, then to Lake Havasu City, in 1967, where they lived for 30 years.
Norma Lee is predeceased by her husband, Bill; and two sons, Fred Blumenstock and Jon (Bill) Blumenstock. She is survived by three daughters and a son, Regina Salomon, Karen Dreher (John), Beth Say (Dale) and Charles Blumenstock (JerrieAnne); daughter-in-law, Zonna Blumenstock; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Norman Firkins (Dorothea), Rex Firkins (Jean); and sister, Maxine Jones (Bill).
Norma Lee was a member of the Eastern Star, in Garberville and was a charter member in both Sonoma, Calif., and Lake Havasu City where she attained her 50-year pin. She organized the Rainbow Girls in Garberville in 1958. She was long-time member of the Republicans Women's Club and was active in many organizations where ever she lived. She was a charter member of the Methodist church in both Lake Havasu City and Chino Valley, Ariz.
Norma Lee will be buried next to her husband in Lake Havasu City, with a family only observance.
