HARPER, Harold Edmund


Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Tuesday, October 5, 2004 Harold Edmund Harper, a longtime resident of Flagstaff, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at his home. He was 91. He was born in Flora Vista, N.M., on Nov. 23, 1913. In 1922, his family moved to Flagstaff. He graduated from Flagstaff High School and attended Arizona State Teachers College, now Northern Arizona University. Mr. Harper, along with his brother and father, established Harper Furniture Company in Flag-staff. He retired in 1990. He was active in Flagstaff Christian Fellowship, Arizona Conservative Baptist Board, Sunshine Rescue Mission, Flagstaff Mission to the Navajos, Gideons, Christian Business Men's Association, the Southwest Bible Conference and the NAU Skyjacks. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Elizabeth; Carolyn and Homer Johnston of Kingman, MaryBeth and Daryl Merrick of Flagstaff, David and Marge Harper of Yuma, JeanAnn Harper of Flagstaff, Delcie Harper of Flagstaff; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Paul. Memorial services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Flagstaff Christian Fellowship, 123 S. Beaver St. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Northland Hospice or the Sunshine Rescue Mission. Norvel Owens Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
