MOLLER, Dorothy Donnelley

Dorothy Donnelley Moller, beloved wife of her late husband Colonel Joseph A. Moller, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness on June 12, 2007. A native of Illinois, Dorothy married Thorne Donnelley of R. R. Donnelley & Sons of Chicago and moved to Paradise Valley in 1957. Following Thorne's death, Dorothy was married to Joseph A. Moller for over 28 years until his death in 1993. Colonel Moller was one of our country's early aviators and Dorothy and Joseph together helped establish, along with the Veterans of the 390th Bombardment Group (H), a unit of the Army Air Corps 8th Air Force in World War II, The 390th Memorial Museum Foundation, Inc., in Tucson, AZ in the early 1980's. Dorothy and Joseph shared many mutual interests which Mrs. Moller continued after his death. At the time of her death Mrs. Moller was a member of the Board of Directors of The 390th Memorial Museum Foundation, Inc., the Board of the Falcon Foundation at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and the Board of Hillsdale College, in Hillsdale, Michigan, among others. Mrs. Moller was awarded an Honorary Degree of Humanitarian Service from Hillsdale College in 1997 and is an Honorary Member of the Association of Graduates of the United States Air Force Academy. Dorothy and Joseph Moller were deeply interested in education and have established scholarships at several colleges. As is well known by her many friends, Dorothy was a great lover of animals and over the years took in many dogs to her home from the humane society, while also supporting numerous animal-friendly organizations throughout the country. Mrs. Moller has also been supportive of many civic endeavors, including the Arizona Humane Society, the Desert Botanical Gardens and the Phoenix Zoo. Mrs. Moller is survived by her late husband Joseph A. Moller's children, George D. Moller of Englewood, CO, and Allan S. Moller of New York City; and by her late husband Thorne Donnelley's children, Thorne Donnelley, Jr., of West Palm Beach, FL, and Thorne Barnes Donnelley; and by several grandchildren. A Celebration of the Life of Dorothy Donnelley Moller was held at the Paradise Valley Country Club, 7101 North Tatum Blvd., Paradise Valley, AZ 85253, on Sunday, June 24, 2007. On the following Tuesday, June 26th, a Memorial Service was held at the United States Air Force Academy Chapel in Colorado Springs, followed by interment next to her late husband, Colonel Joseph A. Moller, at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions and donations in her memory may be made to The 390th Memorial Museum Foundation, Inc., 6000 E. Valencia Road, Tucson, AZ 85706. Dorothy will be dearly missed by her immediate family, by her many close friends, and by the veterans of the 390th Bomb Group Family, whom she loved and who loved her as they loved her dear husband, "Uncle Joe".
