Delia Ortega, 62, born October 13,1949, went home to the Lord on March 10, 2012 in Mesa.
Delia is survived by her four children, George (Tracy), Michael (Ann), John (Nicole) and Felicia (James); life companion, Manuel “Mango” Ortega; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie Doepke, Emma Teeple, Olivia Schiffer and Patsy Garcia and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Aurora; brothers, Frank Jr. and Joey.
Delia attended Hayden Elementary and graduated Ray High School; she also received her Associate’s degree in Business Administration. Delia worked for Motorola/Freescale for 32 years where she built many friendships and long time friends, referring to them as her “boys.”
In 2000, Delia was called upon by the Lord to walk with him and his Ministries. She devoted the rest of life spreading the word and the love she had for God. On December 21, 2011 she wrote in her journal, “God did not put me on this earth just to fulfill a to do list, He has shown me he’s more interested in what I AM, than what I do.
“That’s why we’re called human beings, not human doings.
“Now, I have face difficult moments,painful moments, happy moments, and challenging moments, and what am I to do with all these moments.
“Get up in the morning and sit on the side of the bed and say ‘GOD, if I don’t get anything else done today I want to know you more and Love You Better.’
“For the moments: Happy moments ‘Praise God,’ Difficult Moments ‘Seek God,’ Quiet Moments ‘Worship God,’ Painful Moments, ‘Trust God,’ Every Moment ‘Thank God.’”
The celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, March 15, at 10 a.m. at the The Living Word Bible Church, 3520 East Brown Road, Mesa, Arizona 85213.
