Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Tuesday, April 17, 2012 El Ray Hunter, 81, died April 11, 2012, in Winslow. Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Greer's Mortuary, Winslow. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Baptist Church, Winslow. Greer's Mortuary of Winslow is handling the arrangements. ~~~~~~~~~~ Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow, Winslow, Arizona El Ray Hunter April 11, 2012 Homegoing for El Ray Hunter, 81, will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Zion Baptist Church. Pastor W. Carter, officiating. Interment to follow in Desert View Cemetery. Viewing will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Greer�s Mortuary Chapel form 5:00 - 7:00 PM. El Ray Hunter was born on June 26, 1930 to the late Virge and Ollie Hunter in Center, Texas. The sunset one final time for him was April 11, 2012 at the Campus of Care in Winslow, Arizona. El Ray was a resident of Winslow and in his early years he met and married Earnestine Garner in 1950 in the town of Pineland, Texas in which they were blessed with three children. El Ray was employed many years as a laborer working with lumber companies. Before moving to Winslow he worked for Temple Lumber Company in Corpus, Texas for 16 years. After this he moved to Winslow were he was employed with Duke City Lumber Company for 40 years. El Ray had a love for people and one would always find him talking. No one was ever a stranger to him. He was also a great gardener and was always willing to share with anyone who wanted fresh vegetables. He was a person of many hobbies such as fishing, hunting and raising pigs. He was also a great cook, especially his Bar B Que skills, but he never would give the recipe for his sauce. El Ray Hunter leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Earnestine Hunter; son Virgil Hunter ; daughter, Renay (Gilbert) Brown; five grandchildren, Adrian Parker, Derrick Parker, Michelle Brown, Gilbert Dwayne Brown, Jr. and Jarion Brown; eight great-grandchildren and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter,Gwendolyn Parker.
