Bruce McRae Radcliffe

Bruce McRae Radcliffe, 91 of Tempe, AZ. passed away at Beehive Homes, April 16, 2012. He was born August 4, 1920 in Shiprock, NM to Mark W. and Evelyn Taylor Radcliffe.
His youth was spent in various moves to NM and AZ due to his father's work. His family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he graduated from West High School. Bruce loved all sports especially Football, and Track and Field. He attended University of Utah, then served a mission in Argentina for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1940-1943.
Bruce, nicknamed "Bud" loved the people, language and food. He was then drafted to the army as an Intelligence Agent in Argentina for 18 months. He finally went home to Salt Lake City and 7 days later was sent to officers training and off to Berlin, Germany to help with the Military Governor's office. In Germany and Poland he witnessed the awful devastation as WWII came to an end.
During this time he met his future wife Donna Jane Dowden. They married after he was released from the army, in the Salt Lake Temple in October 1946. He worked at Retail Credit Company for 4 yrs. and then State Farm Ins. for 32 yrs.
After retirement he was a Private Investigator for various law firms. He loved to run and participated in many marathons around the valley. His favorite was the Senior Olympics in Flagstaff, which he ran at age 83. He loved Yoga and Tai Chi, reading and crossword puzzles. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served as a Temple worker and as a missionary for the LDS Employment Center.
Bruce was preceded in death by his wife Donna, brothers, T. Mark and Robert W. Radcliffe, and grandson Heber Ferrin.
He is survived by his 4 children: Michael (Anne) Radcliffe, Brent (Maxine) Radcliffe, Janet Ferrin, David (Diane) Radcliffe, 16 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on April 24th from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the Del Rio Ward Building, 1881 E. Del Rio Dr. Tempe, AZ.
Funeral Services will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be at City of Mesa Cemetery. Bunker's Garden Chapel handled the arrangements.
