MCARTHUR, James Gordon (Bibbs)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, April 20, 2012 James Gordon McArthur, 78, of Humboldt, Ariz., passed away peacefully in his sleep April 8, 2012, at the Hospice Family Care in Prescott, Ariz. Jim - or "Bibbs," as he was affectionately known in the community - was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Waycross, Ga. His childhood through young adult years was spent in West Palm Beach, Fla. and he spent most of his adult life in El Cajon, Calif. He was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne, achieving the rank of sergeant during the Korean War era. After serving his country, he began a successful career as a union lather. He excelled at this trade for 25 years as a skilled craftsman and supervision positions for E.F. Brady Co. and Johnson and Kinsey, both in the San Diego area. He enjoyed shooting sports, fishing, music, spending time with his friends old and new and his dogs. He is survived by his ex-wife, eternal friend, Darlene Ann McArthur; their children, James Timothy and Michael Lee, all from Las Vegas, Nev.; his nephews, Danny and Terry McArthur, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and his faithful canine companion of 12 years, Ellie Mae. He was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Lillian McArthur and brothers William and Russell. He will be interred Friday, April 27, 2012, in Prescott, in a private ceremony, by the Rt. Rev. J. Dennis Massey. A Celebration of Life event is pending. Arrangements by David's Desert Chapel Funeral Home. Information provided by survivors.
