Akron (OH) Beacon Journal Tuesday, March 20, 2012 In loving memory of Erma Lea (nee Nutter) Chaplin, who went home to glory on March 19, 2012. Erma was born in Cedarville, W. Va., raised her family in Akron, Ohio and was most recently a resident of Wickenburg, Ariz. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Glen D Chaplin currently of Springfield, formerly of Akron, Ohio. She is also survived by sons, Roger (Betsy) Chaplin of Hartville/Troy, Gary (Alice) Chaplin of Akron, Greg (Lisa) Chaplin of Tallmadge and daugher, Patty (Andy) Runyan of Springfield. Eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Carrie G Nutter and brother, Robert Nutter. Surviving siblings include Lena Rogers of Akron, Ernestine (Charles) Sigman of Akron, Madeline Greenleaf of Baltimore, Md., Herman (Onidee) of Glenville, W. Va., and Rachel (Fred) Burke of Hillsborough, NC. Erma was retired from BancOne. She was also a long-time member of Akron Baptist Temple where she taught Sunday School for 25 years. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 22nd from 5 to 8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will be held Friday, March 23rd at 11:30am, with interment to follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Erma would request donations be made to the Akron Baptist Temple Senior Mission Trip designated for Samantha and Aliviah Chaplin, 2324 Manchester Rd, Akron, OH 44314.
