Holy Rosary for Milton C. Baca , 75, will be recited at 7:00 PM, Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Madre de Dios Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 23, 2012 at Madre de Dios Catholic Church. Celebrant Father Frank Chacon. Interment will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Desert View Cemetery.
Milton C. Baca was called home by the Lord , Wednesday, April 18, 2012. He passed away peacefully in his home with family by his side.
Milton was born to Mollie Cooper and Cresy Baca on September 9, 1936 in Winslow, AZ. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953-1959 serving in the Infantry then carrying the rank of Staff Sgt. and truckmaster. He served in the Army National Guard upon his discharge from the Marine Corps. In 1963 he returned to Active Duty as a cook.
Milton worked for the U.S. Postal Service here in Winslow and in Colton, California for approximately 15 years. He was employed by the Dept. of Corrections in 1980 as a cook, retiring as the head store keeper.
After retiring he worked at the Senior Citizens Center and Campus of Care as a cook, which he loved doing. In the early 1980's Milton met Lena. They married in 1988, working side by side, operating El Torito. He was a life time member of the VFW as well as the American Legion where he served as Vice Commander and Head Chaplin for 25 years. He enjoyed cooking, reading, trips to Laughlin, traveling, paying Tribute to Veterans and spending time with his family. Milton was one of a kind, making friends wherever he went. He never hesitated to help anyone in need.
Milton is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lena Baca; daughters, Lisa Torres and Lori Baca of San Bernardino, CA.; step-children, Guadalupe (Mario) Ochoa of Hutchinson, KS., Rebecca Durazo of Winslow, AZ, Gilbert Moncayo of Winslow, AZ., Phillip (Amber) Moncayo of Tolleson, AZ., Richard (Sherri) Moncayo of Glendale, AZ. and Carol Moncayo (Manny) of Winslow, AZ.; sister, Anna (Larry) Lathrop of Indianapolis, IN.; brothers, Leonard (Beth) Baca of Winslow, AZ and Joe (Shawna) Baca of Maricopa, AZ.; sister-in-law, Liz Baca of Lake Havasu, AZ.; Milton had 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Cresy and Mollie Baca; brother, Peter Baca.
