The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Thursday, April 26, 2012 Janice L. Woodruff (Green, Higdon) passed away April 20, 2012 at her home in Camp Verde, AZ. Janice was born in Warroad, Minn., April 22, 1943. After moving to Pitcairn, PA and back to Roseau, Minn., she settled in Amherst, Ohio. She graduated from Elyria High School in 1961. She worked for Nordson Corp. for 17 years before retiring and moving to Camp Verde, AZ. She is survived by her husband Bob, daughter; Robin, Laramie, WY, son; Sheldon Scott (Linda), Pittsburgh, PA, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, her sisters; Ardene Allison (Harry), Huron, Ohio, Charlotte Ransick, Amherst, Ohio, and Faith Seals (Paul) Huron, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Katherine Clements. Jan was a poet, songwriter, and performer. To all that Jan at the VFW, will remember her rendition of “Your Cheatin’ Heart” and she loved doing that, especially after a few brews! Another favorite song of hers was “There’s a Tear in My Beer.” Jan loved the people at the VFW and enjoyed contributing to the “Club” as she called it. She was an excellent cook and did many lunches and dinners for the VFW and had many requests for special dishes for lunches, in particular: Liver & Onions and Chicken & Dumplings.
