The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona November 2004 Emily Marie Cox of Phoenix passed away on November 23. She was 81. Emily was born in Chicago in 1923 and moved to Arizona in 1957. She was known to many as "The Rose Lady" not only for the roses she grew but because she created roses out of everything including egg cartons, ribbon, copper, and jade. She had a passion for beautiful rocks and was a lifetime member of the Arizona Lapidary Society. Until the day she entered the hospital with her most recent illness, she continued to shape and polish stones, create wire wrapped jewelry and to teach lapidary and wire-wrap to the many devoted students. She loved all animals and supported their care through local and national organizations. Emily always said you could do anything you want once you make up your mind, and her life was proof of that. She gave her all to everything she did and to everyone she loved, always striving to create as perfectly and love as well as she could. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Robert Cox, her daughter Sharon Gilbert and her husband John of Fairfield, Iowa, her step-son Dennis Weber and his wife Linda of Oakland, California, 3 grandsons, Jeff Weber and his partner Dineen Serpa, Kevin Weber and his wife Mindy, and David Weber, his wife Heather and a great grandchild their son Rex Weber. She is also survived by her sister Marie Kluk, her brother Leonard Kopecky and his wife Beverly of Phoenix, her brother John Kopecky and his wife Joanne in Illinois as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers a contribution may be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. There will be no funeral. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, November 29th at the Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum, 1502 W. Washington, Phoenix, AZ 85007.
