HOLSOMBACK, Charles L.


Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona Charles L. Holsomback passed away on April 28, 2012. Charles was born on August 14, 1946 in Oklahoma City. His family moved to Flagstaff in 1950 and he spent the next 10 years of his life at the old Fish Sawmill camp on north 89. When Killip Elementary School was completed and opened, he was the first student through the front doors. He graduated from Flagstaff High School and attended Grand Canyon University for a year. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict and was the youngest airman ever to become a B52 Crew Chief. Following his discharge, he studied for three years at Northern Arizona University but trucking was his first love. He spent approximately 44 years hauling everything from logs for the family business to food supplies for a local food bank. Charles is survived by his wife Lois of 41 years; sons Jeremy, Joel and Jon; mother Melba; brother Dale and sisters Barbara, Peggy and Loretta. A visitation will be Friday evening from 7pm to 8:30 at the Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ. Funeral Services will be Saturday morning 10am at Greenlaw Baptist Church. 3400 East Lockett Road Flagstaff, AZ, interment with Military Honors will conclude services in the Veterans Section of Citizens’ Cemetery
