RHODES, Eleanor G. (Lil)

West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona Tuesday, May 01, 2012 Eleanor G. "Lil" Rhodes, 91, formerly of Litchfield Park died April 16, 2012, in Auburn, Wash. She was born Feb. 11, 1921, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Adam and Sophie. She grew up in La Porte, Ind., and moved to Phoenix prior to the end of World War II. She worked several jobs while living in Arizona, including secretary for the Litchfield Elementary School District and editor/photographer for the Westsider newspaper. She was involved with many organizations, including the Litchfield Park Historical Society, West Valley Fine Arts, the Art League and the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce. She is survived by four children, Lee of Gallup, N.M., Jonathan of Portland, Ore., Tom of Tucson and Kathleen Hammerquist of Auburn; four stepchildren, Sandy Wright of Prescott; Lenny of Kerrville, Texas; Rick of Prescott; and Mary Stepp of Glendale; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. June 9 at Vineyard Church, 255 N. Litchfield Road in Goodyear. Memorials may be sent to the Litchfield Park Historical Society, P.O.
