Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Wednesday, May 02, 2012 Deacon Edward M. Hickcox died peacefully in Mesa, Arizona, Sunday, April 29, 2012 with family at his side. A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a Rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 230 W. Galveston St., Chandler, AZ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 7 at the church and entombment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at St. Francis Mausoleum, 2033 N. 48th St., Phoenix, AZ. Born in Bisbee, AZ December 6, 1927, he graduated from New Mexico State University and continued his education at Arizona State University where he received his Master’s degree. He was predeceased by his son Brian, and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha, his sister Florine Good of Tucson, five sons, fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. For twenty-seven years he served in various administrative positions at Arizona State University before retiring in 1987. He was ordained a Deacon in May 1974 for the Diocese of Phoenix, serving at parishes including St Mary’s Parish in Chandler, Resurrection Parish in Tempe and San Francisco de Asis Parish in Flagstaff.
