FREDRICH, Roger Charles


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona January 2011 Roger Charles Fredrich 87, passed away on January 22. Roger was born in Menominee, Michigan and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He moved to Phoenix in 1963 with his wife and 3 children. Roger served two years in the Air Corp during WWII from 1943-1945. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star for his brave actions under fire in the Pacific Theater. He retired from Carnation Dairy in 1985. Roger was a lifetime member of The Elks, the American Legion, and an avid golfer. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. Anyone who knew him will remember his quick smile, ready sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye. He is survived by Peggy Fredrich, his adoring wife of 64 years, son Roger Jude Fredrich, and daughters Patricia Eaton and Deborah Heck. He also has one surviving brother, Gerald Fredrich. Roger has 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 step grandson and 5 step great grandchildren. Roger spent his life as a devout Catholic and has joined his mother, father and 2 of his brothers in heaven, where he and his family will have the best seats in the house to watch the Green Bay Packers! Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Queen of Heaven Mortuary Chapel 1562 E. Baseline Rd., Mesa, AZ with Rosary to be recited at 2:00 p.m. An additional viewing will be held from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., prior to the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3450 W. Ray Rd. in Chandler, AZ. A reception to follow at home of family member. He will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024 on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Hospice InSpiris, 2025 N. 3rd. St., Ste. 205, Phoenix, AZ 85004 or Disabled Veterans of America, 655 N. Gilbert Rd., Mesa, AZ 85203. Masses said in his name will also be appreciated.
